Traffic light headache

Instead of being a help to motorists, several of the traffic lights in Carletonville are either fully or partially out of order.

During the past two weeks, residents living near the Onyx Drive and Ada Street crossing complained that the traffic lights at the busy intersection near the Carletonville Taxi Rank were not working. While all the lights were off to start with, they later came on but seemed to be out of sync. For example, the lights were red for all directions for much longer than usual.
Some motorists realised that there was a problem and, therefore, started driving over, whether the lights were red or not.
By Monday, however, the lights were all off again.
Meanwhile, one or more of the globes are dead at the traffic lights on the main route through Carletonville. This problem existed at the traffic lights at the corners of Annan Road and Reinecke Street, Annan Road and Kaolin Street and Annan Road and Gold Street on Monday.
Although the Herald asked the Merafong City Local Municipality what they intended to do about the traffic light problems they refused to answer or attend to the issue.
