Although the Third Wave of Covid-19 seems to be over in the Merafong City Local Municipality as cases started to drop significantly this week, the disease took its toll this week.
According to statistics released by the Gauteng Department of Health there were a total of 9,188 residents infected with the coronavirus by Tuesday, 20 July. Of them 8,310 have already recovered from the disease while 322 of our residents died of Covid-19.
Our total number of cases increased by 501 during the past week, which is lower than the increases of 660, 799 and 591 of the previous three weeks.
A total of 689 patients from our area recovered during the past week. Unfortunately 31 of our residents died of Covid-19 during the past week.
