ER24 paramedics were on the scene about 12 kilometres outside Potchefstroom at 12:37 along with the Fire and Traffic Departments. A large truck was found on its side in the middle of the road and the crumpled wreck of a utility vehicle to the side of the road. The driver of the utility vehicle was found to have suffered fatal injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead on arrival. The driver of the truck, as well as one male passenger from the truck, declined transportation to the hospital. A 41-year-old woman, also a passenger from the truck, was found to have suffered moderate injuries and was treated and transported to hospital for further care. The South African Police Services were also on the scene for further investigations.
