According to the Department of Health, not enough people in Merafong have come forward to get vaccinated up to now.
According to the communication officer of the Department of Health in the West Rand, Ms Nomagugu Hloma, 3,656 people had been vaccinated in Merafong City since the launch of the vaccination rollout in the West Rand, from 17 May to 14 June.
A total of 21,148 people was vaccinated in the whole of West Rand during the same period.
“The Covid-19 vaccine rollout in Merafong City is going according to plan, though the turnout is below expectation. This may be due to a combination of vaccination hesitancy and lack of awareness or access to enrollment platforms,” she says.
Residents of 60 years and over can also register for vaccination by dialling *134*832IDNUMBER# or *134*832# or by sending the word REGISTER to 0600123456.
