According to statistics by the Gauteng Department of Health another two residents of the Merafong City Local Municipality area died of Covid-19 since yesterday.
This brings the number patients from our area who died of the disease to 184. Seven new cases of people infected with the coronavirus were reported in our area during the past day, which brings the total number of infected residents to 4887.
Of them 4 606 have already recovered. Merafong was again the municipal area in the West Rand in which the most new cases were reported. Mogale City (the Krugersdorp area) had five new cases, which brought their total cases to 12 429, of which 12 003 have already recovered and 374 patients have died.
Rand West City (the Randfontein and Westonaria area) had four new cases. So far 6 880 of their area have been infected, with 6 621 recoveries and 223 deaths.
