AfriForum cleans up at Fochville monument

On Saturday, 13 March, Fochville’s AfriForum branch launched a clean-up project as part its monument audit at the Fochville Great Trek Memorial Monument.

They took on the clean-up project with community members and other roleplayers.

Some 25 people helped with the initiative. The branch mowed the grass, pruned the trees and sprayed them with insecticide.

About 80 black bags of refuse were removed. According to Jaco van der Merwe, AfriForum Fochville branch’s chairperson, it is important for history and monuments to be preserved.

“It makes one feel good when so many people still want to make a difference in their environment,” he says.
