One-year-old hit during shooting in Carletonville

A toddler was shot by what could have been a would-be robber in Carletonville recently.

The incident happened in Begonia Street in Carletonville on 15 February. The child’s mother heard some-thing near their back room at about 20:00 and went outside to check. At the same time, her husband arrived home in his car. Suddenly, a man who had been inside the yard stormed towards the woman. However, when he saw her husband, he bolted. The husband pursued him and the man fired shots at his car, forcing him to stop. When the father looked behind him in the car, he noticed that one of the shots had hit their one-year-old child. They called for an ambulance, which transported the child to Leratong Hospital.
