Carletonville SPCA needs help

The Carletonville branch of the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) needs help from the community.

According to one of the inspectors, Ms Elloise Rootman, their stock is currently running low. “Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, we have not been able to hold fundraisers. We now have to ask the community to help us with certain items,” she says. To be able to take care of the increasing number of animals in the kennels, the SPCA currently needs dog and cat food and cat litter. There is also a shortage of blankets, bedding and bowls for both cats and dogs. The SPCA prefers stainless steel food and water bowls as animals cannot chew off pieces that can choke them. Any toys that the animals cannot choke on will also be much appreciated. The SPCA’s office needs copy paper, black pens, black bags and washing powder. “We would appreciate any amount you can give with grateful hearts,” says Rootman. Meanwhile, a wide variety of beautiful pets are looking for new homes. During the past few weeks, an increasing number of lovely kittens have been handed in for adoption. For more information or assistance, call the SPCA at 018 788 6262. Their kennels in Beerster Street are open from 09:00 to 16:00 on weekdays and 08:00 to 11:00 on Saturdays.
