According to the communication officer of the police in Carletonville, WO Peter Masooa, the owner of Soppies Tavern in Welverdiend made sure that the windows and doors of the business were properly closed before he went home at around 21:10 on Sunday, 4 October.
He was woken up by a call from Gladiator Security at around 00:39 the next morning, however. When he rushed to the premises, someone had broken into the business. The burglar had gained access by lifting a corrugated iron sheet on the roof.
A variety of goods were stolen.
