House robbers strike in Gamka Street

The usually quiet Gamka Street in Carletonville was the scene of a house robbery this week.

According to the police in Carletonville, the incident happened during the early hours of Saturday, 5 September.
The owner’s wife awoke to a noise at the sliding door in her dining room at 01:50. Before she could do anything further, however, three unknown men appeared in the bedroom.
All three were wearing balaclavas and gloves and one had a firearm.
“We want money,” the Xhosa-speaking intruders demanded. Luckily for the woman, her husband arrived at the front gate just then. Hearing this startled the robbers and they ran away after taking only two cell phones worth R16,700.
