Police acting against drunken drivers

The police in Carletonville are taking more action against residents who drive under the influence of liquor.

According to the communication officer of the police in Carletonville, WO Peter Masooa, the police focused mainly on the abuse of alcohol while driving during an operation on Friday, 21 August. They were also on the lookout for general crimes, however. That day, the police arrested four drunken drivers.
“The abuse of alcohol within our community is totally out of control, mostly on Fridays. Different crimes like robberies, rape, assaults and accidents occur during a drinking spree or after drinking,” says Masooa.
He added that driving under the influence of alcohol is the most common liquor-related crime in our area. “The police will spare no rod when it comes to drunken driving,” said the acting station commander.
