Two people were left injured this morning, one of them seriously when their light motor vehicle rear-ended a construction vehicle on the R53 between Potchefstroom and Parys.
ER24 paramedics, along with the Provincial Services, arrived on the scene at 06h50 to find both vehicles in the middle of the road. A man and woman, believed to be in their 60’s, were found seated inside the light motor vehicle.
Medics carefully extricated the two patients and found that the woman had sustained serious injuries while the man had sustained only minor injuries. The driver of the construction vehicle, fortunately, escaped injury.
The elderly couple were treated for their injuries, and the woman provided with pain-relief medication before they were transported to Potchefstroom Provincial hospital for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
