Lovely pets can be adopted again at the SPCA

For the first time since the start of the Covid-19 lockdown, people can adopt pets at the Carletonville SPCA.

According to one of its inspectors, Ms Elloise Rootman, the organisation decided to open its doors to prospective new pet “parents” due to the many pets that came in during the lockdown. Besides lovely dogs, there are also several playful kittens and older cats needing new homes.
Experts say pets can offer emotional support, especially in times of crisis, like the current Covid-19 pandemic. Just having them around reduces stress and has a positive impact on mental health. It is crucial to carefully consider if you can provide for a pet for the rest of its life, however, and not just during the lockdown.
The Carletonville SPCA still sells various pet products to help raise money for its activities. They include a new flea and tick treatment that can also treat some other conditions. It can be used on the smallest dog to giants like the Great Dane.
For more information, call the SPCA at 018 788 6262. Their kennels in Beerster Street are open on weekdays from 09:00 to 14:00.
