There are now five patients that have officially been tested positive for the disease in the Merafong City Local Municipality.
The Department does not, however, specify in which towns the patients are.
Figures elsewhere in the Westrand are also growing, with 64 cases in total reported in the region.
Of these, 40 are in Mogale City and 14 allocated to Rand West. There are also five cases that has not been allocated to a specific municipality.
