According to the police in Carletonville, the incident took place at approximately 14:00 on 30 April. The woman allegedly became very upset after an argument with her partner and threat-ened to kill herself and her three children.
She doused herself, the children and their home with petrol and also drank some of the fuel.
The situation was only defused when police members broke the door open and arrested the woman.
She has since been charged with attempted murder and attempted arson.
