According to the communications officer of the police in Khutsong, Capt. Eddie Boboko, the people in the area heard shots going off and summoned the police to the hostel.
The SAPS found a man huddled in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to his head. Nearby, they saw a woman lying on the blood-soaked bed. She had gunshot wounds to her head and left shoulder.
An investigation into the incident revealed that the two had quarrelled, after which the 36-year-old boyfriend shot the woman, aged 43 years, in the head and shoulder. He then shot himself in the right side of his head. Both succumbed to their injuries.
At the time of the newspaper going to print, the investigation was in progress.
