Man arrested after girlfriend’s abduction

Police arrested a man from Blyvoor last week after he allegedly robbed and abducted his girlfriend.

The investigating officer, Sgt Wynand Kruger, arrested him on rape and abduction charges on 11 July, following an incident that had taken place two days before.
The suspect allegedly threatened to hurt his girlfriend severely. He grabbed her cell phone and sim card and then forced her into the bushes near their home. Luckily for her, he realised he had dropped something on the way and told the woman to stay there while he went to find it.
Once he was out of sight, the woman ran for help.
At the time of the incident, the suspect was out on bail on an assault case, for allegedly choking the same woman with a belt.
