Piet Viljoen Park bridge murder mystery solved

The long arm of the law and professional, intensive investigation led by Fochville detective WO Solomon Ramulundo saw the arrest of a 34-year-old suspect for the murder of a woman whose body was found under the bridge next to Piet Viljoen Park last year.

According to the communication officer of the police in Fochville, Sgt Elsie Tshonte, a 20-year-old student from Vanderbijlpark was reported missing on November 24 last year. On December 10, a passer-by discovered the badly decomposed body of a woman and immediately notified the police.
“A case of murder was opened, but the body could not be identified due to the state of its decomposition,” says Tshonte.
The police were, however, able to collect clues from the scene and the preliminary investigation led the police to a missing file report that was reported at the Vanderbijlpark SAPS.
Investigation into the matter continued, which led to the arrest of the suspect on June 14. This man was charged with murder and appeared before the Fochville Magistrate Court on Tuesday, June 18 and was denied bail.
The Station Commander, Lt-Col Phumelele Matamela, commended the member for his courage, dedication and perseverance into this matter and urges the public to report crime as it happens.
