Bakkie hijacked in Carletonville street

A resident of Carletonville had a harrowing experience when two men robbed him of his bakkie recently.

According to the police in Carletonville, the man was pulling out of his yard in Silver Street at around 04:45. He was on his way to work when the incident happened.
He got out of his white 1988 model white Toyota Hilux to close the gate. As he did so, he saw a man approaching from across the street. The owner was uneasy when he saw the man run towards him.
As the suspect approached the bakkie, another man ambushed him from the left and fired three shots at him. The first suspect also fired a shot and the owner was forced to run back to the safety of his house.
The hijackers then jumped into his bakkie and sped off.
The police are investigating a case of hijacking following the incident but the vehicle has not yet been recovered.
