A man and woman were arrested in a parking lot near Woolworths in Carletonville on 13 September. According
to a car guard, Anthion Nortjie, the pair parked their blue Toyota Yaris, got out and went into Ackermans. A little
while later, they ran out of the store in the direction of the parked vehicle when they were confronted by the car guard. In his haste to get away, the driver bumped the car behind him as he tried to reverse. When he realised he was stuck, he fled on foot and ran towards the robots on Ada Street and hid the car keys by a tree near the robots. The woman was apprehended near the parking area and the police were called. In the meantime, the male suspect
returned and handed himself over to the police. Both were arrested and the car, with a boot-load of clothing, was taken to the Carletonville Police Station. The car was apparently a stolen vehicle and has been returned to the owner,
according to the communications officer, WO Peter Masooa
