Woman flees from burning bakkie

A passenger is in a critical condition after jumping out of a moving bakkie when it burst into flames.

A passenger is in a critical condition after jumping out of a moving bakkie when it burst into flames. The incident took place on the N12 near Kraalkop
Hotel on Friday 12 February. The bakkie was heading for Potchefstroom when the fire broke out. The woman panicked and jumped out before the driver managed to pull over on the side of the road. She sustained serious head injuries but the driver and the two children in the vehicle were not
harmed. The Fochville fire department, ER24 and ARS were on the scene and the patient was airlifted to Lenasia Len-Med Hospital. The fire is believed to have been caused by a mechanical failure. One person died and another 6 were injured in a taxi accident on the N12 between Fochville and Potchefstroom on Friday night. ER24 transported all the injured to Potchefstroom Hospital. Later that night, two trucks collided on the N12 between Fochville and Westonaria. A driver had to be freed from the wreckage with the jaws of life. ER24 transported him to Leratong Hospital.
