The dedication and determination of an SAPS detective have led to the conviction and sentencing of a murderer after a six-month search. The docket that landed up on the desk of Const. Kgomotso Kubu related to a double murder and attempted murder at House 3428 Duiker Street in Wedela. The accused, Mooroswa Molato went to the house where a quarrel broke out between him and the owner, Mathapelo Kojwana and her son-in-law, Ramoleko Mokoena. The accused left the place and later returned with a firearm and started shooting randomly. Mathapelo and Ramolekowere shot and killed, and a third person, who was also in the house, was shot in the arm. The accused vanished from the scene and could not be traced until Kubu used all intelligence and his informer network to hunt him down. The accused was arrested by constables Wesi and Mpambane at Nkana’s place in Kokosi. The case was brought before a judge at the regional court in Fochville and finalised on Thursday 21 January. He was sentenced to two life sentences for the two murders and eight years for the attempted murder. The management of Wedela SAPS acknowledged the effort and great work of a dedicated member of the service in executing his duties.
