Carletonville detectives arrest suspect in fatal stabbing of Flint Street vendor

He appeared in the Oberholzer Magistrates Court on Monday.

Carletonville detectives arrested a suspect on a charge of murder following the death of a small businessman within days of the incident.

A street vendor (41) known for selling Russian sausages in the area, was on the sidewalk near the corner of Flint Street and Annan Road on October 5.

According to reports, the vendor and another man started arguing. The other man left but later returned with a knife. He then assaulted the vendor and stabbed him. The businessman died at the scene.

Police followed up information just after the incident and traced the alleged murderer down to Vereeniging where he was apprehended last week Thursday.

The 33-year-old suspect was due to appear in the Oberholzer Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
