Khutsong man desperately needs kidney donor

Meshack is desperately looking for help.

Meshack Xhomfula (32) from Khutsong is currently living a miserable life due to issues with kidney failure. He grew up in the township living a normal life while residing with his mother and siblings.

Meshack’s problem started in June 2020 when he could no longer see as his eyesight suddenly deteriorated. He became partially blind and due to severe headaches he had to be hospitalised.

“I was told that my blood pressure was too high, which affected my eyesight.”

After blood tests were conducted it became evident that his kidneys also have a problem.
According to Meshack he spent three days without urinating and he was taken to Leratong hospital where he was assisted by renal doctors. He was diagnosed with renal failure that is also known as kidney failure.

Meshack was placed on the list for a kidney donor.

However, “it’s been four years of living hell,” he said.

Since Meshack’s diagnoses he is receives peritoneal dialysis and he has had to drink about 30 pills a day.

”My mother has been very supportive throughout the process and the situation has affected my entire life, because I had to quit work and all recreational activities,” he emotionally expressed.

Meshack also mentioned that sometimes he feels useless because he cannot do anything and can’t go anywhere as he has to be at home due to his daily schedule to maintain his kidney failure.

“I don’t eat normal food, no salt or spices, minimise my liquid intake and I’m currently surviving from disability grants that doesn’t cover my expenses because the recommended food like brown rice is too expensive,” he further expressed.

Meshack is desperately in need of a kidney donor to return to his vibrant life as he was involved in creative activities and social initiatives.

His condition is limiting him and he would like to support himself instead of depending on others.

Meshack wishes to find a job that can accommodate his issue or to access financial support.
He currently copes by accepting the situation, but he mentioned that sometimes he doesn’t even know how he feels.

“My kindeys are functioning less and less, I need help from anyone,” he concluded.

Those interested in helping Meshack can contact him on 071 445 8765 or 082 868 5634. He can also be reached via Facebook at Banele Slow or via email at banelexhomfula@gmail.com.
