She wants to use the knowledge she gained to make a positive change.

As the countdown to the Miss World South Africa 2024 final approaches, one finalist is capturing the hearts and minds of many with her unwavering dedication to youth empowerment and community advocacy.

Neo Nkhumane, a passionate advocate and locum lecturer at North-West University, has taken her journey from humble beginnings to the forefront of societal change. With the final event set for Saturday at Sun City Super Bowl, Neo’s vision is not only to wear the crown but to leverage her platform for meaningful impact.

Born and raised in Carletonville, Neo has always believed in the transformative power of leadership. Her involvement in the Miss World South Africa competition has been nothing short of extraordinary.

“This experience has expanded not just my vision but my heart,” she shared. “I’ve learned the true essence of resilience and the importance of using my voice to advocate for those who are often unheard.”

As a finalist, Neo has elevated her non-profit organisation, Beyond Borders, which focuses on youth empowerment and safe reproductive health initiatives. The organisation addresses critical issues such as teenage pregnancy and provides young mothers with the necessary tools and resources to build better futures.

“Through workshops, mentorship programmes, and partnerships with healthcare professionals, we are reshaping the narrative for these young women,” she explained.

“Our goal is to empower them to rise beyond their circumstances.”

Neo’s commitment to this cause stems from her own experiences and the challenges faced by young women in her community. She believes that education and empowerment are key to breaking the cycle of disadvantage.

“If we want to create real change, we need to invest in our youth and provide them with the opportunities they deserve,” Neo asserted.

“No dream is too far out of reach when you have the right support and resources.” Should she be crowned Miss World South Africa 2024, Neo is determined to amplify the impact of Beyond Borders. “I see my title as a beacon of hope, a way to shine light on the importance of education, empowerment, and equality for all,” she said.

“This journey has taught me the value of persistence and the beauty of unity. I stand ready to represent not just my country but every girl and woman who dares to dream beyond borders.”

Neo’s academic pursuits further illustrate her dedication to her mission. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Communication at North-West University, she believes that effective communication is vital for advocacy and community engagement.

“My studies are equipping me with the skills I need to better articulate the challenges and aspirations of those I aim to serve,” she noted.

“Education is a powerful tool for change, and I am committed to using mine for the greater good.” The Miss World South Africa final is not just a competition for Neo, it’s an opportunity to connect with a larger audience and inspire change on a national scale. With the show airing live on SABC 3, she hopes to reach viewers who resonate with her mission.

“I want to encourage everyone watching to believe in themselves and to know that their voices matter,” she said passionately.

“We all have the potential to create a ripple effect of change in our communities.”

As the final date draws near, Neo’s excitement and determination are palpable. She has forged connections with fellow contestants, each sharing their unique stories and missions.

“It’s inspiring to be part of a group of women who are all committed to making a difference,” she remarked.

“We’re not just competitors, we’re allies in a shared mission to uplift and empower.”
