Man from Elijah Barayi charged with attempted murder after domestic violence

Both the husband and wife were taken to hospital.

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a domestic-related incident that occurred last weekend.

According to reports, the man and his wife staying in the Elijah Barayi mega housing complex started fighting in the early morning hours at about 01:30.

The man (40) allegedly accused his wife (26) of having an affair.

The man pulled out a pistol and fired several shots at his wife.

One of the bullets hit her in the neck. The wife, however, defended herself with a beer bottle and struck her attacker with it. She then left to get medical treatment at Carletonville Hospital.

According to the police, the man then stabbed himself several times with a knife. Police say the man reasoned that he would blame this on his wife, which would cause her to go to prison as well.

The man was taken to Fountain Private Hospital for medial treatment. He is facing charges of attempted murder and is expected to appear in court soon.
