Truck driver kidnapped in fake police hijacking near Carletonville

The hijackers later drop their victims off somewhere else.

Hijackers in uniforms again struck in our area this week.

The incident took place on Wednesday, September 18.

A driver was on his way with his employer’s white UD eight-ton truck on the N14.

As he neared the four-way crossing with the R500 at about 08:30 a white VW Polo appeared behind him.

The driver indicated that one of the truck’s rear tyres was flat and gestured to him to stop.
As his truck came to a standstill the Polo’s driver and his three passengers, who all wore police uniforms, jumped out and ran to his truck.

They grabbed the driver, blindfolded him and forced him into the Polo.

Meanwhile, a motorist was hijacked and kidnapped in Khutsong Extension 6 next to Welverdiend this week.

The man (44) stopped at a house in Extension 6 to pick up two acquaintances at 00:33 the same morning. He had just picked up the passengers when eight unknown African men walked up to his car.

They all wore blankets and were armed.

The driver saw that there was trouble and ran away.

Some of the thugs got into his car, a white Toyota Yaris, and drove off with the two passengers.

Luckily, they were later dropped off at Khutsong Extension 5.

The car has, however, not been recovered.
