Khutsong resident sentenced to 10 years for attempted murder

He attacked a do-gooder in Khutsong Extension 5.

A resident of Khutsong received a stiff sentence after being found guilty of attempted murder.

Banoxolo Bhakhu (23) of the 70s at Ext 5 saw two men attacking another man outside his yard in July 2023.

He intervened to help the victim, but was attacked as well.

One of these suspects, Nkululeko Nomandla (33) stabbed this do-gooder in his back and this caused his lung to collapse. Bhakhu was released from hospital five days later.

Although Nomandla was originally charged with assault to do grievous bodily harm, the charge was later changed to attempted murder.

He appeared in the Oberholzer Regional Court in front of Magistrate Jan Steyn on September 12.

Nomandla was found guilty and was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment.

Sergeant Tshepiso Montsho of the Carletonville detectives was the investigating officer.
