Hijackers flee with truck
The N12 in our area is notorious for hijackings and motorists must be very careful.
A truck was hijacked while driving through our area on the N12.
This incident happened at about 09:00 on August 30.
The 35-year-old victim, an employee of a business in Boksburg, was driving his employer’s four-ton Hino truck toward the Mponeng mine to deliver equipment. He stopped just after the Engen filling station to relieve himself.
Suddenly a Honda sedan with four men inside stopped next to him. One of the men was armed.
The thugs, who all spoke isiZulu, grabbed the driver, forced him into their vehicle and blindfolded him.
The hijackers drove off with the driver and dropped him between Randfontein and Kagiso. They then drove away in his truck.
The victim was unharmed, but managed to get help to get to the Randfontein police station.
