Community workers reach out to Deurgangshuis in Carletonville

Their action made a big difference.

Members of the government’s Community Works Programme (CWP) together with a ward councillor reached out to the shelter in Carletonville this week.

The SAVF’s Deurgangshuis in Talc Street has given many women who are temporarily homeless a roof over their heads. Because of this the CWP workers and the area’s ward councillor, Dawie Harman, visited them for a special Women’s Day Soup and Bread Morning on August 6. The group generously donated soup and bread to the residents of this SAVF hostel. Harman also notes that the SAVF’s KOSMOS NIKS charity shop is also open. “We encourage everyone to donate clothes and support the shop, as all proceeds go towards supporting the residents of the SAVF hostel,” says Harman.
