Hijackers attack employee in bakkie on N14 near Carletonville

The victim was dropped near Soweto.

A man was left seriously injured following an alleged hijacking while driving through the area last week. An employee (47) of a mining contractor from Bryanston was driving on the N14 to deliver computers on August 5.

As he neared the R500 crossing a white Kia suddenly stopped in front of him. The man was forced to stop as well.

The moment his Toyota Hilux Bakkie came to a standstill, the Kia’s driver and passenger jumped out. They pulled out firearms and pointed it at him. At the same time a silver Renault stopped behind the bakkie. Men from this vehicle also got out and the thugs started to search the employee.

The hijackers then forced him into the back seat of his own bakkie. After driving for some time, the hijackers forced the employee into another vehicle. They assaulted him along the way.

After driving around for another three hours the victim was left at some low-cost houses. When he asked bystanders where he was, it was discovered that he was in Orange Farm near Soweto.

The victim sustained various injuries and had to get medical assistance before reporting the case to the South African Police Service.
