Two taxi murders in Khutsong

Unknown hitmen strike are responsible.

Two members of the local minibus taxi industry were murdered in Khutsong during the past two weeks.

According to the Khutsong police station’s commander, Colonel Ockie Brits, a member of the Carletonville United Taxi Association (CUTA) was killed at approximately 18:30 on Sunday. Apparently unknown gunmen in a silver Toyota Corolla drove after this owner’s taxi and started shooting at him near the turn-off to Ramathibe Farms on the way to Khutsong Ext 3.

Another similar murder took place at approximately the same time exactly a week before on July 28. During this incident another taxi owner from CUTA was shot while driving in Khutsong Ext 3. This murder took place at the curve on the main tarred road on the way to the Khutsong Ext 3 clinic.

The killers drove a green Toyota Starlet hatchback and fled the scene.

No one has been arrested yet and both cases are being investigated by the South African Police Service.
