Driver gunned down next to bridge between Carletonville and Welverdiend
No-one has been arrested yet.
Another murder related to the local minibus taxi industry happened next to Khutsong Ext 5.
The police were called to the part of the road between Carletonville and Welverdiend leading under the bridge at approximately 18:30 on July 31. Upon their arrival they found a white Toyota Quantum minibus on the side of the road.
The deceased, a member of the Carletonville Local and Long Distance Taxi Association (CALLTA) was lying on the ground at the passenger’s side of the vehicle. He already succumbed to his injuries.
The police found that someone had shot the victim several times through the driver’s side window as it had multiple gunshot holes.
The victim had been shot in his lower back, arm and head.
The case is being investigated by the police’s special taxi violence unit.
