House robbers arrested after they struck in Carletonville

They tied their victims up.

The police arrested a group of house robbers that struck in Carletonville last week.

The robbers struck a home in Kaolin Street on July 23.

A man in his 20s was inside the home when four unknown thugs burst in at approximately 19:30. The criminals, one of whom wore a South African Police Service face mask like those they wore during the Covid-19 pandemic, pulled out firearms and immediately threatened the residents.
“We want money,” they demanded.

The suspects then proceeded to tie the residents up with cable ties.
The criminals then grabbed a cellphone, laptop and money, as well as the keys to the resident’s Ford Figo. They loaded their loot into the car and sped off.

Members of the Bekkersdal SAPS’ visible policing unit spotted the car on the N12, stopped it and arrested three of the robbers. The criminals, who are from Tembisa, already appeared in court on charges of house robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and a stolen vehicle.
