The body of a Khutsong resident was found in Extension 5 last weekend.
According to local police, the incident happened in Hector Petersen Street on Saturday.
Residents called authorities to the scene at about 06:30. Upon arrival they found a man lying in the street. Upon closer inspection it was discovered that the victim had been shot in his lower back.
Although paramedics were called to the scene, the man had already succumbed to his injuries. Nothing more could be done for him and he was declared dead on the scene.
The man was identified as Moloto Reunen (39), a resident of the area who lived life doing odd jobs here and there.
The police are investigating a murder case.
