Various residents of Deelkraal arrested

Nine arrests were made following the latest crimes.

The trouble in Deelkraal again continued last week.

Police intervened at this former mining town again on Thursday 15 February after members of the public slashed the tyres of three vehicles and threw them with stones at approximately 08:50.

Meanwhile, one of the fellow trustees owning Deelkraal, Frederick ‘Frik’ van As, also allegedly threatened to kill some of the community members the morning.

Detectives from Carletonville arrested him together with eight community members on 16 February.

All appeared in the Oberholzer Magistrates Court the same day.

Van As (50) appeared on charges of intimidiation and crimen injuria while Michael Meme (40), Frank Manyisa (43), Thapelo Motaung (37) and Judith Dennison (36) appeared on charges of intimidation and malicious damage to property. Vuyisile Khumalo (38), Romano van  Bosch (33), Sibongile Mapanyane (33), Anna Mofokeng (39) and Lungisile Vulabi (55) appeared on charges of damage to essential infrastructure.

They received bail and the case was postponed until 22 March.
