Hijackers flee with bakkie
Hijackers are again active on the R501 between Carletonville and the N12 toward Westonaria, known to locals as the P111 road.
The P111 between Carletonville and Westonaria became the scene of a hijacking on 26 January.
A man (26) was driving his employer’s bakkie towards the N12 and had just passed Corobrik around midday when he noticed a Toyota Quantum minibus behind him.
The driver indicated that he should pull over, and three “traffic officers”, two men and a woman, one wearing a uniform, got out.
“You were speeding. Get out of your vehicle,” one said in Zulu.
One “traffic officer” then pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the driver, grabbed him, and pushed him into the minibus.
The hijackers then drove off with him and dropped him at the South Deep rock dumps next to the N12, fleeing in his employer’s white Toyota Hilux bakkie.
