Two New Year’s babies for Merafong

According to the Gauteng department of Health, the two youngsters, a boy and a girl, were both born in Carletonville Hospital.

A total of 412 babies, of which 200 were boys and 212 girls, were born in government health facilities in the province on the first day of this year.

The mothers of 16 of the babies are teenagers.

The health facility where the most babies were born is the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, where 31 youngsters saw the first light of day this new year.
