Still no sight of missing disabled man

With his birthday this week, the family of a mentally disabled man from Carletonville is still anguished and has many questions about what may have happened to him.

Frikkie Bester went missing in Carletonville on the afternoon of 28 July 2022 after taking his bicycle and riding off without his relatives knowing.
His family still thinks he did so because he was upset over the death of his mother and did not know how to deal with the situation.
According to his sister, Mrs Marietjie McIntyre, it was Frikkie’s 58th birthday on Wednesday, 13 June.
“Where do we, as a family, start because we have so much sadness in our hearts? Our searches on various networks ended in dead-ends, and we even searched on foot. The police closed the case in December last year, and the help from correctional and security services also led to nothing,” she says.
“It would be wonderful if Frikkie would surprise us with his reappearance for this birthday. We love him so, so much,” says McIntyre.
She also thanked everyone who has reached out to the family with information from time to time.
“You are just as sad as we are, and we notice this. To me, it is a favour from the hand of God our Creator. Even if it hurts, it makes us see the love shining from other people.”
Frikkie is intellectually challenged, vulnerable and requires medical treatment.
McIntyre still asks anyone who thinks they may have seen Frikkie or who might know where he may be to contact them.
Anyone with information can contact her at 063 671 5351, her husband Ben at 064 948 6492, Hennie Bester at 072 545 2192 or Marina Bester at 082 495 2690.
