Watch out for house robbers

The police warn Carletonville residents to be ultra-vigilant when going out at night or hearing something in their yards after dark.

Two armed house robbers implicated in several other crimes in the past months struck again this week. The thugs were involved in three incidents around Laerskool Jongspan in one night.
The incidents happened on Vaal-, Tugela- and Kaolin streets near the Carletonville swimming pool early Monday morning. The two suspects, both Sotho- and Zulu-speaking, are armed with a firearm and panga and wear balaclavas and gloves.
In all the incidents, they targeted residents who had gone outside their homes, either to get fresh air or go to work between 02:00 and 04:00.
The robbers stormed up to them, forced them to hand over their cell phones, and fled the scene.
The police warn residents not to go outside at night. If they hear something in their yard or garden, they must avoid going and checking themselves but must phone the police or their security company.
