CJ learner to USA with project

A Carleton Jones High School learner is in the United States this week with her star science expo entry.

Keitumetse Sebatlelo, a Grade 11 learner, is in Dallas, Texas, at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). This event takes place from 14 to 19 May.
Keitumetse’s star research project is titled “Predicting the likelihood and severity of sinkholes occurring in Khutsong from underground water pipes”. The project qualified for the national event at the Eskom Expo International Science Fair (ISF) in December.
Keitumetse lives in Khutsong’s Batswaneng Section, the part of Khutsong most affected by sinkholes.
“She saw the deteriorating conditions in Khutsong and wanted to use her project to try to make a difference,” says her brother, Caiphus, who is delighted about his sister’s achievement.
She will return home this weekend.
