Merafong gets a new MM

For the first time in several years, the Merafong City Local Municipality has a permanent municipal manager.

The new MM, Mr Dumisani Mabuza, started working at the municipality on 2 May.
According to the municipal spokesperson, the contract of the previous acting MM, Mr Lesedi Mere, expired on 28 April.
Mabuza, appointed by the council, previously worked for the Mbombela City Local Municipality in the Nelspruit area of Mpumalanga. He was the City Planning and Development manager and worked at this municipality since 2012.
According to information on the Mbombela City Local Municipality’s website, Mabuza started his career as a trainee manager at Old Mutual Corporate plc (Corporate Financial Schemes) at its head offices in Pinelands, Cape Town, in 1999. Among other places, he has also consulted for municipalities in Mpumalanga like Nkomazi, Thaba Chweu, Ehlanzeni District, Bushbuckridge, Bohlabela District and Mbombela itself, and various departments and agencies.
