Driver escapes hijackers

Blyvooruitzicht continues to be one of the most dangerous towns in our area.

The police in Carletonville says that an employee of the satellite security company Tracker was robbed in Blyvooruitzicht on Friday 17 June.
The employee went to Blyvoor to install a tracking device but could not find the person who had called for the service. He called his employer to notify them of this issue and went to park next to Blyvoor Primary School to wait for instructions on what to do next while his employer contacted the customer. While he was parked there a man came up to him.
“I want to show you something,” the man said.
All of a sudden, a group of unknown men started to surround his vehicle.
“Give us your cellphone,” the thugs demanded.
The grabbed the phone and tried to hijack his vehicle. Luckily the thugs struggled to start the vehicle as a tag was needed for this purpose.
They asked the man to start the vehicle for them instead. He started the car in first gear and managed to race away.
