Man shot in car at taxi rank

A man was shot at the Carletonville Taxi Rank this week.

According to Carletonville police’s communication officer, WO Peter Masooa, the SAPS received a complaint of a shooting at the Carletonville Taxi Rank on 8 June. When the officers arrived at the scene at approximately 16:16, they found a white Toyota Corolla parked next to Annan Liquor Store.
The car was still idling and there were three bullet holes in the driver’s side of the windscreen. Bystanders told the police that the victim was in the liquor store.
Once police officer tracked the shocked and injured man down. He said he had been sitting in the car, waiting for his friend to come out of the liquor store. Suddenly, an armed man appeared next to the car and started shooting at him.
He managed to jump out of the car and ran into the liquor store. He was shot in both hands and his stomach and was taken to the hospital.
The attacker fled the scene in a silver car with a North West registration number.
