Blue light hijackers strike on N14

Blue-light hijackers struck our area again last week.

The Carletonville police say the incident happened at approximately 13:30 on 12 April.
A man was driving his silver-grey VW Polo on the N14, between Randfontein and the R500 crossing when he suddenly heard a siren behind him. He looked in his rear-view mirror and saw a white Toyota Corolla with blue light behind him.
The man pulled off, thinking it was a routine check, and even took out his driver’s licence to show the officials.
Instead, the uniformed man who arrived at his door grabbed the car keys from the ignition. The thug and his accomplices then pulled the owner out of his vehicle and pushed him onto the back seat of their car.
They then drove off with him and dropped him on the side of the road. Because the man did not know the area, he had no idea where he was. He continued walking until he got to a business with security guards, where he asked for help.
They assisted him to get to the Carletonville police station.
The police are investigating hijacking and kidnapping charges following the incident.
