Burglars cause big damage at school

Burglars caused huge damage at Hoërskool Wonderfontein in Carletonville last weekend.

According to Carletonville police’s communication officer, WO Peter Masooa, a teacher arrived at the school at about 16:00 after being called about trouble at the school. He discovered that the copper cable connected to a power box near the pavilion had been dug up and stolen. In the process, the thieves had dug a trench right under a pavilion. They also damaged the side of the sports field. The criminals also broke into the kitchen. Wires were removed from the stove and the electrical box in the kitchen was stripped of its wiring. The burglars also stole taps in the emergency room, bathroom and kitchen. Besides the value of the stolen goods, the damage caused in the process amounts to thousands of rands.
