Angry cook gets even

In a somewhat unusual incident in Carletonville, a cook allegedly almost shot a man during an argument over food.

According to the Carletonville police, the incident happened at about 23:00 on Friday 8 October. As far as could be determined, the victim walked into a business in Flint Street that sells food and drink. Although the cheapest dish cost R50, he only had R20 on him. The man persuaded the staff to give him food for that amount. However, when he received what he had paid for, it was not what he had expected. He started complaining vehemently and kicked the pot on the sidewalk in which the food had been prepared. The cook was furious about this and pulled out a firearm. He pressed the handgun against the man’s cheek and pulled the trigger. The man jerked his head away and the bullet flew past his face.
