Residents of Kokosi living near the municipal offices started their new week with a bang when a loud noise woke them up in the early hours of Monday morning, 30 August. They soon discovered that the commotion was caused by robbers who blew up the ATM next to the clinic at about 02:00.
Although the Fochville police could not provide more information about the incident be- cause their head office handles such crimes, the residents speculate that the robbers most probably fled with all the money as the ATM was blown to bits.
By around 15:00, the safe from inside the ATM was still lying on the sidewalk.
This was the second such incident in the past month. Another ATM was blown up in Welverdiend on 12 August.
