ER24 paramedics and the Provincial EMS arrived at 15h22 to find the two vehicles on the side of the road. Two patients were entrapped, one in each car, while several others were found outside the vehicles.
Medics assessed the patients and found that two children were critical while a third had sustained moderate injuries. Four adults had sustained minor to moderate injuries.
Rescue Services had to use the jaws-of-life equipment to free the entrapped while paramedics treated the patients and provided the two children with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
