Carletonville’s Anika shining at Tokyo Paralympics

Residents following the Paralympics must make sure that they watch our own star this afternoon.

Anika Pretorius, the daughter of Dr Cornu Pretorius and his wife Ingrid, will participate in the final of the 100m T13 event for visually impaired athletes at 13:10. Anika has a chance to possibly get a medal as she finished the third fastest in her heat. She also equalled her personal best of 12:41 seconds. “She faces extremely strong competition from other athletes in her class as there are several who moved into this class from other classes,” says her father. He thanks everyone in the community for support so far. Read more about Anika and her achievements in Thursday’s edition of the Herald.
